Jake Kaplan Celebrates the Season
Arguably one of my favorite parts of the season is going to the mailbox to see if we've received any Holiday Cards from friends near and far. Over recent years there was a steep decline as more and more people just posted to social media vs sending cards and photos in the mail. It was either social media or people decided to stop sending them to me specifically. Either way, I always look forward to seeing pictures of families all dressed in coordinated outfits, smiling brightly at the camera against the backdrop of some scenic location.
So you can imagine my delight when I saw this shot of Jake and his family.
First of all, this picture is ALL OF US. If ALL OF US are beautiful and photogenic and our outfits are perfectly color coordinated and we're perched near perfectly reflective water. Jake's caption sums up this moment perfectly...
This is real life, people. All that’s missing is a sound byte of me screaming “turn down the volume!” In the background.
Merry Christmas from our constantly distracted family to yours.
The struggle to get any sort of air time with kids engrossed in their technology is REAL. The realist life there is right now. As an aside, I've grown really fond of the top of my kids heads since it's the angle I see most often. The rare glimpse of their faces with full eye contact is almost too much to absorb somedays!
When we first talked about our #CelebratetheSeason campaign, Jake shared another tradition with me. Decorating gingerbread houses.
This picture of Kylie on the counter in her Christmas jammies fills me with more holiday spirit than I can quantify. No matter the tradition, no matter the backdrop, the smiles or the lack of smiles...real life baby on the counter ready to eat all the decorations feels like the perfect reason to celebrate.
