In absolutely no particular order, because we can’t compare apples and oranges, we’ve chosen our top 10 favorite things that have happened in 2020. No one is celebrating 2020, other than it’s inevitable demise, but Rock Stars always find a way to shine and find the silver lining. So cheers to 2020 and the amazing opportunities it brought us, may 2021 be even bigger and better!
#10 - Grand Opening of The Cottages at Chatham Park
We kicked off 2020 with a brand new community and a brand new home collection: The Cottages at Chatham Park! These homes were a fresh, tiny territory for Garman Homes since they start at just 828 square feet. We definitely were able to capture all of the cliches like “small but mighty” and “great things come in small packages”...because well, have you seen them?
These homes are packed with storage opportunities, like drawers built into the stairs. Every square inch has purpose and is maximized through perfect planning, even down to the flower boxes on the front porch and the names of the home plans. Who doesn’t get warm fuzzies when they hear names like Apple Pie, Hot Chocolate, Milk & Cookies, and Chicken Noodle Soup? Turns out we aren’t the only ones obsessed with our Cottages - the Milk & Cookies model home won GOLD in the 2020 Triangle Parade of Homes! (More on that later though)
#9 - 2020 Parade of Homes
Many of the Parade Homes this year incorporated home offices, home schooling spaces, and anything to make life at home more comfortable for everyone! Thanks Covid. Ours were no different in that aspect, but of course we had to put our own twist on things. This year we submitted three homes from our Fresh Paint product line, and all three won awards!
In Wendell Falls we submitted our Paper plan, from our Roshambo Collection. It’s the newest model home on the block. Completely furnished by Amazon, in true 2020 fashion, this home has the perfect space for schooling from home and a personal sanctuary for each family member. Whether that sanctuary is a bunk bed playhouse, a creative space, or a grand Suite (with two walk-in closets!). We were honored to have won GOLD in the Triangle Parade of Homes for this home!
In our newest community, Chatham Park, we submitted two plans. The first: Milk & Cookies. Like the name, it’s delicious, nostalgic, and simple. You’d never know by how spacious it feels that it’s under 1000sqft! We amped up the cozy with an eating nook off of the family room and kitchen. We maximized all spaces by making the laundry room big enough to double as an office. And completed the look by adding a perfect flower box on the front porch. No wonder this yummy home won GOLD in the Parade of Homes!
Healthy living starts here, in the Chicken Noodle Soup home plan. The second of our homes from Chatham Park submitted to the 2020 Parade of Homes. French doors open to a giant family room. The kitchen brings in plenty of light through perfectly placed windows between the countertop and upper cabinets. Stairs double as storage space. Walk-in pantry and walk-in closets for even more storage....should I keep going? This beautiful home won SILVER in this year’s Parade of Homes!
Stay tuned for even more favorites of 2020!
Where do I even begin? I fell head over heels in love with Garman homes over a year and a half ago, and I told my husband we would one day own/build a Garman home. I was sure of it. So when they revealed they would be building in Knightdale Station (where our family wanted to be), you can only imagine our excitement. Their whole vision for their homes is on point. The quality of their homes is unmatched. And I love how transparent and authentic they are as a company. Every single person who works for Garman/Fresh Paint is so easy to work with and super personable. Their team genuinely cares about you and your home. They are cultivating true community right from the start. Laurel, Krista, and Danica specifically have been absolutely incredible. They make the whole process lots of fun and totally seamless. Our home closes in June, and it still feels surreal that we get to own and live in our dream home. Someone pinch me. We are so pumped to raise our growing family here, and to top it off, we have friends building only a few houses down. I'm convinced Garman is the way to go if you are looking for a home that is going to be more than just a house -- but a place to rest, connect, and gather with family and friends. As I always say, I'm a Garman girl through and through!
